Airpods may reduce creativity

A working hypothesis

productivity

  • Currently working on a hypothesis that Airpods, due to their convenient and frictionless use, may inhibit people's creativity.
  • This may be unfairly blaming Airpods for something content does to us, but seems a useful starting point. Audio content including music and podcasts can, with the use of Airpods, fill all available free time in a day. This is time that would otherwise be spent thinking/pondering. The ease the Airpod provides, then, may be detrimental to creative endeavours.
  • Potential experiments for the future (could be treated as 'projects') would include not using Airpods for a given length of time - such as a week or month.
